The stunning dark sky of the National Park, is so free from light pollution, and is one of its very special qualities..... as a result the Yorkshire Dales National Park are thrilled to have been designated a Dark Sky Reserve by the International Dark Sky Association and Ingleby Lodge is a Dark Sky Friendly Business as when you stay with us, you will experience the true darkness of the National Park. Every year in February the Yorkshire Dales National Park along with the North York Moors National Park celebrating their amazing Dark Skies with the Dark Skies Festival. This year will be the 7th Dark Skies Festival hosted from 18 February to 6 March - local businesses in and around the Yorkshire Dales National Park will be hosting various events to help you truly experience the starry skies of the Yorkshire Dales! Activities include an opportunity to do some stargazing with expert astronomers at some of the best locations in the Park, night-time fell running, night-time photography, night-time canoeing and mindful stargazing. There is also plenty of family friendly fun such as rocket making, nocturnal wildlife talks and the now infamous planet trails starting at The Aysgarth Falls Visitor Centre.
